Cook Thanksgiving On Your Grill

Nov 14, 2017

It’s the middle of November, and that means the holidays are right around the corner. The solution to a smooth and sweet holiday celebration? Cook Thanksgiving your grill!

Thanksgiving is next week, and hopefully, you already have the turkey, sweet potatoes, and everything else you need purchased and put away in the pantry, fridge, or freezer. You might be hosting the family gathering this year. If you are, you need to make sure that all the food is ready at the same time. That can mean getting up at the crack of dawn to put the turkey in the oven, or peeling potatoes for several hours so that there are enough for everyone. At The Outdoor Appliance Store, we love helping people find the perfect grill for their backyard. Notably, the holidays can be a great time for cooking outside!

Rotisserie Kits

One of the best features you can add to your new outdoor grill is a rotisserie kit. Instead of waiting for the turkey to finish cooking in the oven, you can add it to the spit and slowly roast it until it’s tender and ready to eat. If you’ve purchased a couple of smaller turkeys this year, you can add both of them and cook them at the same time! The stainless steel motor will keep the birds rotating. Whilst you stay inside watching football, playing games, and enjoying quality time with friends and family. If you’re looking for a great recipe for your rotisserie turkey this year, check out our delicious Festive Smoked Turkey option!

Don’t Forget the Vegetables!

Thanksgiving is a feast that’s often headlined by turkey. It’s also a meal that’s full of delicious vegetables. If you’re celebrating the harvest of this year’s crop of corn, beans, and other tasty veggies, why not throw them on the grill? Russet potatoes wrapped in aluminum foil are easy to cook on the grill, and we know you’ll love how they taste, especially once you add the butter and the salt and pepper. Corn on the cob is also a good option for the grill, and those perfectly seared ears will be very popular at the dinner table. If you love sweet potatoes, take a look at this Maple Glazed and Roasted recipe.

Eat Thanksgiving Dinner Outdoors!

We know that not everyone is in sunny Florida like we are. Your Thanksgiving may involve cooking turkey along with scooping snow. However, if you do live in a climate where it’s possible to cook and eat dinner outside in November, why not move the feast to the backyard? Once the turkey, vegetables, and other sides are done cooking on the grill, you can serve everything right there and everyone can start digging in! Of course, no family holiday dinner is complete without bread, and you can bake the perfect loaf in your outdoor pizza oven. When paired with a beer from your outdoor kegerator or a glass of wine from your outdoor refrigerator, the meal is sure to be a success.

At The Outdoor Appliance Store, we want to provide our customers with the equipment and appliances they need to cook delicious meals all year long. If you’re looking forward to Thanksgiving and all of the tasty food you’ll have, think about how delicious it would be if you cooked the turkey on a rotisserie spit and roasted the potatoes on the grill. With the right setup, you could create the entire meal in your outdoor kitchen, and serve everything on the deck or patio.

Inspired By The Season

Elevate your holiday celebration this year with a unique twist by incorporating smoked cocktails into your Thanksgiving festivities. Infusing your drinks with a hint of smokiness adds depth and complexity to traditional flavors, making for a memorable and delightful experience. Our favorite? A Maple Smoked Old Fashioned.

  • 2 oz bourbon

  • 1/2 oz pure maple syrup

  • 2 dashes of Angostura bitters

  • Orange peel for garnish

  • Wood plank for smoking (cedar or hickory recommended)

In a mixing glass, combine bourbon, maple syrup, and bitters. Stir well with ice to chill the mixture.  Strain the cocktail over a large ice cube in a lowball glass.  Using a smoking gun or a kitchen torch, smoke the cocktail over a wood plank for added flavor. Garnish with a twist of orange peel for a burst of citrus aroma. The combination of bourbon and maple syrup creates a warm, comforting flavor profile, while the smokiness adds a layer of complexity to this timeless classic.
